Bellingham: Roger Pawley

Roger writes, "I lived from the age of 1, in 1939, until the mid 1960’s over my parents’ sweets and tobacconist shop, in Brownhill Road, Catford.

"I was educated at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Hatcham School, in New Cross, and now, at 71, I am a retired self-employed laboratory supplier. I was for over 30 years a school governor at a school in Lee, during which time I was given an award by the London Borough of Greenwich for services to education.

"In my retirement, I spent some time as a volunteer with the RSPB, introducing people, and especially young people, to the natural world at their nature reserve in Pulborough, West Sussex. I am also a long standing member of an archaeology society, based in the boroughs of Southwark and Lambeth.

"When elected, I will be especially interested in education and improving services to help local people."
